Leading specialist publisher The Chelsea Magazine Company has acquired Discover Britain from Archant Community Media for an undisclosed sum. In addition to Discover Britain two further coffee-table consumer titles, The English Garden and The English Home will also transfer to Chelsea Magazines ownership.

“I acquired Discover Britain almost 25 years ago, when it was called Heritage, then sold it to Archant in 2005,” says Chelsea Managing Director Paul Dobson, “so it’s hugely exciting that it’s coming home, and it will sit perfectly alongside our existing travel brands, Britain – The Official Magazine and Cruise International.”

As part of its commitment to refine and develop the Discover Britain brand, Chelsea Magazines will be reviewing the title’s production qualities and positioning in the marketplace.

“The knowledge we have gained through work on our existing title Britain – The Official Magazine means that we know the Discover Britain market inside out,” continues Dobson, “and we are committed to delivering another fine quality publication for readers to indulge their passion for British history and travel, and for advertisers to promote themselves to a broader audience of high value readers. Discover Britain is all about quality and Chelsea is the perfect home for such a title.”

Discover Britain, The English Garden and The English Home have extensive worldwide circulations, primarily in the UK and in North America, where Chelsea has a long-established and successful subscriptions marketing operation.

Following its acquisition of Little Media in 2014, The Chelsea Magazine Company continues to expand its portfolio, which now includes 15 titles in three distinct groups – Parenting, Specialist Sporting, and Travel & Leisure.
