Unsure where to spend Valentine’s Day? Take some inspiration from this list compiled by Hotels.com who surveyed 2,000 people to find the UK’s most romantic places
London
Top spot goes to London with 18 percent of the vote, although interestingly it also got voted 3rd least romantic destination
Ullswater, Lake District
Last year’s winner, the picturesque Lake District with its romantic Lakeland views, slips down to 2nd taking 15 percent of the vote
Polperro Harbour Cornwall
The beautiful coastal county of Cornwall with its quintessential villages takes 3rd place with 7 percent
The Cotswolds
While equal 4th is the historic city of Edinburgh and the rolling Cotswold Hills with 6 percent of the vote each
Edinburgh
In 6th place with 5 percent of the vote is the first and only town on the list Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, and the birthplace of William Shakespeare

The historic city of York is in equal 7th place with the county of Devon

Finally in 9th place and taking 2 percent of the votes each are Bristol and Cardiff, two new entries to the 2015 list
