London

Spend some time in this capital city to enjoy a vast array of visitor attractions with a seemingly endless list of historic buildings, tranquil parks, theatres and art galleries where the famous works of renowned masters reside.

The National Gallery alone holds over 2,000 works of art while the various museums dotted across the city cover everything from the natural world to transport and the history of design.
Having survived through disasters and adversity, such as the Great Fire of 1666 and the Blitz, London’s skyline is constantly changing and developing with more recent additions, including the London Eye and the Shard, joining historic attractions such as St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament that stretch out along the river Thames.
The oldest part of the city can be found on the north side of the river in the form of the Square Mile where the city’s roots were first founded in Roman times, but it is perhaps the home of the royal family, Buckingham Palace, that continues to be one of the city’s main attractions. The palace has served as the official residence of the monarchy since 1837 and draws a huge amount of visitors from both the UK and abroad, especially as its gardens, along with 19 state rooms, are open to the public at selected times of the year. As well as this royal residence, visitors to the city can also head over to the Tower of London, one of the city’s World Heritage Sites, to learn more about previous monarchs and to pay a visit to the Crown Jewels.
With everything that’s going on in this vibrant city there’s something for everyone to enjoy and enough to make each visit a completely different experience, time and time again. www.visitlondon.com
