City of the Unexpected sees Cardiff transformed by Dahl
This weekend Cardiff was overtaken with the playful spirit of its native son Roald Dahl with massive two-day extravaganza across the capital’s streets.
City of the Unexpected, a co-production between National Theatre Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre, saw free events delight thousands of visitors to the capital as the mysterious arrival of giant peach on Saturday sparked a day of typically Dahlian irreverence as an acrobatic Mr Fox was chased around the streets, James was rescued from the his peach by the Welsh emergency services before, at the evening’s finale, Ms Ladybird marry the head of the Welsh Fire Brigade prompting a massive wedding party which saw City Hall transformed into a giant chocolate factory.
Take a look at the how the day unfolded.
