Fans of Bettys historic tearooms in Yorkshire will be able to enjoy a new reservation-only afternoon tea menu from May 2015.

The first Bettys tearoom opened in Harrogate in 1919 and has remained a firm favourite for fans of afternoon tea ever since. Nearly 100 years later, the iconic Yorkshire family business has announced its new, reservations-only Lady Betty Afternoon Tea menu. The new afternoon tea menu will be available on the first floors of The Imperial Room, Bettys in Harrogate and The Belmont Room, Bettys York, from Friday May 15, 2015 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am.

The Lady Betty Afternoon Tea will be freshly made with the highest quality, seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. Customers will be offered a glass of Champagne or the new Bettys Rhubarb Champagne Cocktail while considering the menu which includes a surprise seasonal appetiser and a gift to take home.

The new menu is inspired by Bettys best-loved patisserie and favourite Tea Rooms’ specialities, comprising: a scrumptious selection of sandwiches made with breads from the award-winning Craft Bakery, delicious savouries, two types of freshly baked, warm Scone – Yorkshire Lavender and Sultana and an exquisite range of handmade miniature cakes.

A selection of rare and fine teas, specially sourced by Bettys’s own expert tea buyers to complement the menu, will include the new, exclusive Bettys Afternoon Tea Blend. This distinctly flavoured tea brings together the depth and flavour of top quality Assam complemented by the delicate floral notes of Darjeeling – the Champagne of teas.

The elegant surroundings of The Imperial Room and The Belmont Room will be enhanced further with luxurious new Art Deco inspired chairs, while music from the cafe pianist will complete the occasion.

Manager of the Imperial Room, Nicola Manning, said: “This will be afternoon tea at its absolute best. While there is always a sense of a special occasion at our six Yorkshire Café Tea Rooms, the new reservations-only Lady Betty Afternoon Tea will be an inimitable treat.”
