Win a royal stay at Thornbury Castle

There are not many places in the UK where you can walk, sleep, or dine in the footsteps of royalty. Here’s your chance to win a stay for you and a guest at historic Thornbury Castle…

Overlooking the Gloucestershire countryside and located near Bristol, Thornbury Castle was one of the last regally recognised castles to be built in England in 1511.

It has been the home of kings, queens, and dukes over the centuries before becoming a luxury hotel.

A one-of-a-kind destination, forged of imposing stone walls and steeped in palatial luxury, it is an enduring testament to a time in which the Tudors reigned supreme. In fact, it was a firm favourite of the Tudors and the castle was visited by King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn in 1535 as part of their Royal Progress tour.

Today, Thornbury Castle is the only Tudor castle in the UK that is open as a hotel and restaurant. A recent multi-million-pound refurbishment has made this Relais & Châteaux castle-hotel a unique and special place to visit – a true, luxurious escape from the everyday.

The Catherine Parr Superior Deluxe Suite

Channeling 1530s grandeur with 2020s splendour, guests can experience Tudor opulence in total luxury during a stay at Thornbury Castle. The interiors pay homage to ambitious Tudor architecture, with freestanding baths and spacious walk-in showers added. Many bedrooms have views on to the 14th-century church next door.

Located within 15 acres of grounds, Thornbury Castle retains many original features, including arrow-slit windows and original planting from the Tudor period. The gardens have been extensively replanted, and executive chef Carl Cleghorn, uses the produce to create inventive, delicious food, including breakfast, lunch, an all-day dining menu, afternoon tea and à la carte dinner.
