Keeper’s Cottage, Bedfordshire

    Keeper's Cottage

Deep in the pinewoods of the Shuttleworth Estate, former home of a 19th-century industrialist, this delightful property retains the atmosphere of bygone times when its surrounding acres were used for leisure pursuits.

In its heyday, the cottage served as a gamekeeper’s lodge, built for purpose befitting the needs of gentrified shooting parties. By the mid 20th century when the estate was developed into an educational establishment the cottage was abandoned and fell into a near ruinous state. Adhering to the original architect’s plans the Landmark Trust was able to restore the property offering today’s guests that uncommon experience of peace and quiet.
