The Priory, Dorset

    The Priory

Long before the days of a la carte lunches and afternoon tea, this historic site served a far more austere purpose for its 12th-century Benedictine order.

For 500 years the monks led quiet lives here amidst the Dorset countryside. All evidence of the priory long since swept away, only its four-acre gardens remain where guests can linger on the terrace admiring views to the River Frome and Purbeck Hills. The current building was created on the old foundations 450 years ago and reflects the character of a tranquil country house.
