See Whitby Abbey in a new light

Perched high on a cliff, the haunting remains of Whitby Abbey in Yorkshire influenced the gothic tale of Dracula. Every evening until 31 October, see Bram Stoker’s inspiration in a new light as the abbey is bathed in dramatic illuminations.

As visitors explore the abbey’s gothic splendour, costumed characters will introduce the darker side of Whitby’s past with tales of grave robbing and witch trials. This year, there will also be a live performance of Dracula, so wrap up warm, pack your camera and take a wander around the glowing ruins from 6pm to 8.30pm, with the performance starting at 8.15pm. Halloween fancy dress is encouraged. There will be hot drinks for sale at the traders’ market where you can buy warming drinks, among other goodies.
