Situated in the heart of England, Delapré Abbey, in Northamptonshire, has opened its doors to the public, for the first time in its 900-year history.

Following an extensive restoration project, partly funded by the National Lottery’s Heritage Lottery Fund, the ancient Abbey, which began life as a nunnery, will reveal its secrets to visitors through five interactive storytelling zones. Peel back the centuries and witness many important moments in British history, including the battle of Northampton, and learn how religious beginnings in medieval times gave way to great scandal during the reign of Queen Victoria. You can also get into the spirit by holding your own parties in the beautiful gardens and public parkland.

History enthusiasts and families looking for a great day out can visit six days a week over the summer. Delapré Abbey will also be running a changing annual programme of events, workshops and activities, including regular weekend craft and food and drink markets which celebrate the best of what Northamptonshire has to offer.
