The origins of the property are 17th century when it was the site of a prestigious hunting lodge, gifted by Charles II to John Carey for his loyal service to the king. In later centuries the property changed hands, was rebuilt and adapted into use as an hotel. Refurbished in very recent years the accommodation and facilities are a far cry from that offered to those very first patrons of the royal hunting ground. Today’s guests may seek outdoor pursuits of a lighter variety, whether a forest walk, cycle or horse ride through the ancient oak woodland. Once back at base, pampering treatments in the SenSpa and fine dining in the Manor restaurant awaits.
